The start is at 06:00 at 601 Biscayne Boulevard in front of the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat; the later corrals are away by 06:45 and nobody starts after 07:00. The course heads north and then over the MacArthur Causeway - at nine metres above sea level the highest point of the entire race, reached within the first four hundred metres - past PortMiami and its cruise ships to Watson Island. At mile 2.5 comes the second rise, across onto Miami Beach, then up Ocean Drive and back to the mainland over the Venetian Causeway between miles eight and eleven.\n\nFrom there marathon and half go their separate ways. The marathon runs south through Brickell and Coconut Grove towards the Rickenbacker Causeway and finally returns up Biscayne Boulevard to the finish at 301 Biscayne Boulevard beside Bayfront Park. Twice, at miles 13.2 and 25.5, it crosses the South Miami Avenue bridge - both short, gentle rises and, with the two causeways, the only gradient the course has. The total is 58 metres of climbing over 42.5 kilometres, with 94 per cent of the route flat.\n\nThe course is USATF-certified, a single loop and a Boston qualifier; the field is capped at 18,000 across the marathon and half together. What sets Miami apart from other flat marathons is the setting and the hour: the first hour and a half runs in darkness over open water crossings, sunrise falls in the Ocean Drive section, and the closing hours are already in the day's heat. The seven-hour limit is stated bluntly - after it, aid stations, marshals, medical support and cross-street protection are withdrawn.",{"de":130,"en":131},"Auf 94 Prozent flacher Strecke gibt es keinen Anstieg, der dich bremst, und keine Abfahrt, die dich erholt. On a course that is 94 per cent flat there is no climb to hold you back and no descent to hand recovery back. Pace is therefore purely a decision from kilometre one, and the hardest one comes right at the front: the MacArthur Causeway arrives after four hundred metres, in the densest field of the day, and is the only rise that counts at all. Run over it at race pace and you have taken the highest load spike of the race in your first minute.\n\nThe real opponent is humidity. A 06:00 start at sea level in the subtropics means heavy air and very little evaporative cooling, January or not; the water crossings are open and windy, the street sections between them are not. Drink to a plan from the beginning rather than to thirst, and expect heart rate to drift slowly upward at the same pace over the distance - that is normal and not a reason to force it.\n\nThe race is decided after mile thirteen. That is where the half turns off, and the marathon thins out abruptly and quietens on its way through Brickell and Coconut Grove - just as the sun comes up, with the last two hours the warmest of the day. If you have ridden the very large shared field until then, this is where you pay. The final South Miami Avenue bridge at mile 25.5 is objectively harmless and is remembered by a lot of finishers as the hardest climb of the day.",{"de":133,"en":134},"Für Altersklassenläuferinnen und -läufer dauert der Miami Marathon etwa drei bis knapp sieben Stunden; das Limit von sieben Stunden entspricht 16 Minuten pro Meile oder zehn Minuten pro Kilometer. For age-group runners the Miami Marathon is a three to just under seven hour effort; the seven-hour limit works out at sixteen minutes per mile, or ten per kilometre. The demand is a steady aerobic one with no anaerobic component at all - physiologically the simplest kind of marathon, with one extra variable: heat.\n\nWhich is exactly why heat belongs in the training. Arrive from a European winter and race day presents conditions that never occur at home during the build. Some of the long runs should therefore be done under raised heat load - overdressed, indoors, or on a treadmill with the window shut - and over several weeks, not in the last one. The drinking strategy needs rehearsing with it: over six hours in high humidity, fluid and sodium intake is not a detail.\n\nThe running-specific emphasis is steady race-pace endurance. Long runs with thirty to sixty minutes at marathon pace in the final third, plus threshold runs of twenty to forty minutes, both on ground as flat as you can find. Hill training pays nothing back here; on a course with 58 metres of climbing there is nothing to prepare the legs for.\n\nThe last condition is the clock. A 06:00 start means getting up in the middle of the night, breakfast hours before the effort, and the first hour and a half in the dark, part of it on open bridges. That can be rehearsed: a few long runs before sunrise, with the same breakfast and the same timings as race day, remove exactly the unknowns you would otherwise discover at 05:00 on the morning itself.",{"raceName":136,"kind":18,"hasTrack":19,"composedLegs":20,"startDate":21,"leg":20,"legGroup":20,"distanceInMeters":137,"elevationGainInMeters":138,"format":24,"profile":139,"intro":225,"description":228,"pacing":231,"training":234},"Half Marathon",21097,22,{"classification":26,"routeShape":27,"totalAscentM":138,"totalDescentM":140,"netElevationM":29,"vertPerKm":47,"climbs":141,"remainingVertM":32,"gradientDistribution":142,"downsampledProfile":146,"trackPolyline":224},20,[],{"flatPct":143,"upPct":144,"downPct":145,"steepUpPct":32,"steepDownPct":32},96.6,1.7,1.6,[147,148,150,151,153,155,157,158,160,162,164,166,168,170,172,174,176,178,180,182,184,186,188,190,192,194,196,198,200,202,204,206,208,210,212,214,216,218,220,222],{"km":32,"elevM":32},{"km":149,"elevM":103},0.55,{"km":40,"elevM":32},{"km":152,"elevM":47},1.65,{"km":154,"elevM":32},2.2,{"km":156,"elevM":32},2.75,{"km":35,"elevM":32},{"km":159,"elevM":32},3.85,{"km":161,"elevM":47},4.4,{"km":163,"elevM":47},4.95,{"km":165,"elevM":32},5.5,{"km":167,"elevM":32},6.05,{"km":169,"elevM":32},6.6,{"km":171,"elevM":29},7.15,{"km":173,"elevM":47},7.7,{"km":175,"elevM":47},8.25,{"km":177,"elevM":47},8.8,{"km":179,"elevM":47},9.35,{"km":181,"elevM":47},9.9,{"km":183,"elevM":47},10.45,{"km":185,"elevM":47},11,{"km":187,"elevM":47},11.55,{"km":189,"elevM":47},12.1,{"km":191,"elevM":47},12.65,{"km":193,"elevM":47},13.2,{"km":195,"elevM":32},13.75,{"km":197,"elevM":32},14.3,{"km":199,"elevM":32},14.85,{"km":201,"elevM":47},15.4,{"km":203,"elevM":32},15.95,{"km":205,"elevM":32},16.5,{"km":207,"elevM":47},17.05,{"km":209,"elevM":32},17.6,{"km":211,"elevM":29},18.15,{"km":213,"elevM":74},18.7,{"km":215,"elevM":74},19.25,{"km":217,"elevM":77},19.8,{"km":219,"elevM":29},20.35,{"km":221,"elevM":29},20.9,{"km":223,"elevM":29},21.45,"uqj|Cz}lhN_ME{Em@w@gAcEmLWkBiAcg@PwE`A{D`CkDzRyL|EsEdEiGjt@gzB`BeINuIaNyg@SwGZ}@`_@}TbDw@K}UayA{RkNiAw@bLsH[ieAjASh@nF|LKl@mOcF{V_BUzDZr@lTvApYhKlVfi@nBzGnExdC_AlGJhHtA`GLpDhCp|Aj@|r@~DGpA}AzoAaBRtJfDDBuJjD]e@wf@_@[e@J",{"de":226,"en":227},"Der Miami Half Marathon ist die erste Hälfte der Marathonschleife und praktisch eben: 22 Höhenmeter auf 21 Kilometern, fast alle davon von zwei Brücken. Within four hundred metres you are already at the high point of the race: the MacArthur Causeway, nine metres above the water, past the PortMiami cruise terminals and over to Watson Island.\n\nAt mile 2.5 comes the second and last rise worth the name, the climb onto Miami Beach. From there the route runs up Ocean Drive through South Beach, turns, and comes back to the mainland over the Venetian Causeway between miles eight and eleven. From there it goes straight to the finish at 301 Biscayne Boulevard beside Bayfront Park, with the last two hundred metres deviating from the marathon line. Across the whole distance 96.6 per cent of the course is flat.\n\nThe field is large - marathon and half together are capped at 18,000 entrants, and the half is the bigger share of that. The course is the postcard version of Miami: downtown, the port, the Art Deco frontages of Ocean Drive and three water crossings, run between night and mid-morning. A half marathon without a profile is decided in its first three kilometres, and here they fall particularly awkwardly. The MacArthur Causeway comes after four hundred metres and the climb onto Miami Beach at mile 2.5 - both in the stretch where the field is densest and the legs freshest. They are the only two places on the course where excess effort can creep in at all, which is exactly why it happens there.\n\nThe second factor is the air. At 06:00 it is dark and subtropically humid; the causeways usually have wind across them and Ocean Drive does not. Alternating between an open, cooling bridge and a still street makes perceived pace swing even while the watch runs even. Hold to effort and breathing rather than to feel, and plan the drink stations in from the start rather than from halfway.\n\nThe race is decided over the final seven kilometres after the return across the Venetian Causeway. From there nothing is left - no terrain, no bend to give the effort structure, just Biscayne Boulevard and the finish. Take the two bridges under control at the start and you can lift steadily here; take them with the crowd and you are managing.",{"de":235,"en":236},"Der Miami Half Marathon dauert für die meisten Altersklassenläuferinnen und -läufer zwischen etwa 1:15 und 2:45 Stunden. For most age-group runners the Miami Half Marathon is a 1:15 to 2:45 effort. Physiologically it is a sustained near-threshold one with no terrain demand at all - the course asks nothing of strength or technique and everything of evenness.\n\nThe training emphasis is therefore standard threshold work on flat ground: intervals of six to twelve minutes just inside race effort, tempo runs of 25 to 45 minutes, and at least one test run of 15 to 18 kilometres at intended race pace. Hill training buys nothing for this course; two bridge ramps of a good minute each are not a training target.\n\nThe genuinely specific preparation concerns climate and clock. A 06:00 start in subtropical humidity hits runners travelling in from winter hardest. A few sessions under raised heat load spread over several weeks, and at least two long runs before sunrise using race-day breakfast and race-day timings, cover the two factors that actually cost time here.\n\nOne small thing with a large effect: because up to 18,000 people are on course across the marathon and half and everyone starts together, the opening kilometres are tight. A few training runs in which race pace is deliberately not reached until two or three kilometres in are more realistic preparation than any fast-start scenario.",{"raceName":238,"kind":18,"hasTrack":19,"composedLegs":20,"startDate":239,"leg":20,"legGroup":20,"distanceInMeters":240,"elevationGainInMeters":47,"format":24,"profile":241,"intro":324,"description":327,"pacing":330,"training":333},"Tropical 5K","2027-01-30",5000,{"classification":26,"routeShape":242,"totalAscentM":47,"totalDescentM":29,"netElevationM":32,"vertPerKm":243,"climbs":244,"remainingVertM":32,"gradientDistribution":245,"downsampledProfile":247,"trackPolyline":323},"point_to_point",0.3,[],{"flatPct":246,"upPct":32,"downPct":32,"steepUpPct":32,"steepDownPct":32},100,[248,249,251,253,255,257,259,261,263,265,267,269,270,272,273,275,277,279,280,281,283,285,287,289,291,293,295,297,299,301,303,305,307,309,311,313,315,317,319,321],{"km":32,"elevM":47},{"km":250,"elevM":32},0.13,{"km":252,"elevM":32},0.25,{"km":254,"elevM":32},0.38,{"km":256,"elevM":32},0.5,{"km":258,"elevM":32},0.65,{"km":260,"elevM":32},0.78,{"km":262,"elevM":32},0.9,{"km":264,"elevM":32},1.02,{"km":266,"elevM":32},1.15,{"km":268,"elevM":32},1.27,{"km":30,"elevM":32},{"km":271,"elevM":32},1.53,{"km":152,"elevM":32},{"km":274,"elevM":32},1.78,{"km":276,"elevM":32},1.93,{"km":278,"elevM":32},2.05,{"km":42,"elevM":32},{"km":36,"elevM":32},{"km":282,"elevM":32},2.42,{"km":284,"elevM":47},2.55,{"km":286,"elevM":47},2.68,{"km":288,"elevM":47},2.8,{"km":290,"elevM":47},2.93,{"km":292,"elevM":47},3.05,{"km":294,"elevM":47},3.2,{"km":296,"elevM":47},3.33,{"km":298,"elevM":47},3.45,{"km":300,"elevM":32},3.58,{"km":302,"elevM":32},3.7,{"km":304,"elevM":32},3.83,{"km":306,"elevM":32},3.95,{"km":308,"elevM":32},4.08,{"km":310,"elevM":32},4.2,{"km":312,"elevM":32},4.33,{"km":314,"elevM":32},4.47,{"km":316,"elevM":32},4.6,{"km":318,"elevM":32},4.72,{"km":320,"elevM":32},4.85,{"km":322,"elevM":32},4.97,"afk|C`mjhNdD}AxFYz@c@|@wFfJ}Llu@a}BvAoLi@gGgLoa@i@uCFeG|CsCzVgOdDoBbBSJaE",{"de":325,"en":326},"Der Tropical 5K ist die einzige Punkt-zu-Punkt-Strecke des Wochenendes: fünf Kilometer vom Watson Island über den MacArthur Causeway nach South Beach, am Samstagmorgen vor dem großen Sonntag. The start is at 07:30 at 980 MacArthur Causeway on the east side of Watson Island - already out in the middle of the water crossing. The course follows the causeway east across Biscayne Bay and finishes at 1 Washington Avenue at the southern end of Miami Beach. It is the same stretch the marathon and half run in the dark on Sunday, taken here in broad morning light with open water on both sides.\n\nThe elevation profile contains exactly one movement, and even that is marginal: the ramp to the crown of the bridge sits at just under nine metres above the sea, and everything else is at water level. The processed track totals a single metre of ascent - a figure no other road course reaches.\n\nWhat has to be planned for is the point-to-point logistics: shuttles run from the parking areas to the start between 05:30 and 07:00, but there are none from the start to the finish. The race opens the weekend and is set up by the organiser as a family-friendly way in and a preview of the Sunday route; the time limit is sixty minutes, or twenty minutes per mile.",{"de":331,"en":332},"Auf fünf Kilometern ohne jedes Gelände gibt es genau eine taktische Frage, und das ist die Brücke. Over five kilometres with no terrain at all there is exactly one tactical question, and that is the bridge. The ramp up to the crown of the MacArthur Causeway comes in the first part of the course, lasts a minute or two, and is the only resistance of the day. Over a distance already run close to threshold, it is enough to ruin the rest if you sprint it.\n\nThe second variable is wind. A bridge over an open bay offers no shelter whatever, and a headwind on the causeway costs more here than any gradient would - there is no line of buildings to hide behind. If the wind is in your face, working in a group for shelter matters more than your own pacing plan, which is unusual at this distance.\n\nThe race is decided in the final kilometre after the descent off the bridge, where the course drops back to sea level and runs into South Beach. From there nothing is left but evenness, and anyone who spent too much at the top of the bridge finds out on exactly that last, completely flat stretch.",{"de":334,"en":335},"Fünf Kilometer dauern je nach Leistungsstand zwischen etwa siebzehn und vierzig Minuten; das Limit liegt bei sechzig Minuten. The demand is a short, high-intensity one at and above threshold - unlike the Sunday races, what decides this is not endurance but the ability to hold a very high intensity without cracking.\n\nThe training emphasis is accordingly on intervals around 5K race pace: repetitions of three to five minutes with short recoveries, plus shorter, faster work over 400 to 1,000 metres. Because the course is entirely level apart from the bridge, no strength or hill work is needed at all; what is needed is being used to holding a pace that feels uncomfortable from the start.\n\nOne specific session picks up the bridge: a minute of moderate climbing at 5K pace, followed immediately by two flat kilometres at the same pace. That sequence - a short resistance and then no recovery terrain at all - is exactly what the course asks for.\n\nOn conditions: a 07:30 start in the subtropical January on an open bridge means warmth, high humidity and unbroken wind. For an effort under forty minutes that is less a question of fluid than of the warm-up routine - a longer but easy warm-up in humid warmth, and a race pace corrected deliberately down a little from a personal best set in cool conditions. Then the logistics: with no shuttle from the start to the finish, whatever you need afterwards has to be at the finish beforehand.",[337],{"eventName":6,"eventDate":9,"eventHomepageUrl":11},[339,347,354,361,368,376],{"slug":340,"eventName":341,"proseName":342,"city":344,"country":8,"eventType":14,"eventDate":345,"distanceInMeters":22,"elevationGainInMeters":346,"classification":26},"space-coast-marathon-half-marathon","Space
